girl in a bookshop
1st Place (PCC)
Girl In A Bookshop was my first ever entry in a competitive photographic competition and I was overwhelmed when it won 1st place in the PCC. Taken in the Pannier Market in Tiverton, Devon it captures a young girls passion for literature both new and old, mesmerised with the mystique of the written word.
AVON GORGE AFTER DARK
1st Place (PCC)
Avon Gorge After Dark is my impression of the River Avon flowing alongside the Portway as you approach the Clifton Suspension Bridge. This picture captures the urban sprawl of the ever growing City of Bristol being halted by the River Avon protecting the lush green of Leigh Woods. The whole thing only being spanned by the Clifton Suspension Bridge.
bridge over troubled water
2nd place (pcc)
Bridge Over Troubled Water was taken at the peak of the stormy season in the Exmoor town of Dulverton. Barle Bridge spans the River Barle creating a beautiful gateway to Exmoor. This picture captures both the elegance and power of mother nature, and the extreme engineering needed to co-exist with it.
BIRD ON A BAR
2nd place (PCC)
Bird On A Bar was a first attempt at wildlife photography. Not wishing to be too exotic I chose a humble pigeon, sat on a metal hand rail, along Glass Wharf in Bristol. A simple picture of the most common of all birds securing a very simple 2nd place.
THE LAST WATCH
3RD PLACE (WCPF)
The Last Watch is an artistic take on the now decommissioned Black Nore Lighthouse which watched over the treacherous waters of the Severn Estuary. This picture was entered as part of a set of 5 prints as a team event but unexpectedly secured a third place as an individual print in a Western Counties Photographic Federation annual competition.
Busy Bee
3RD PLACE (PCC)
Busy Bee is actually one of a set of three bee pictures and was an early attempt at nature and macro photography. This particular image was commended for its clarity of the bees wings and the detail of the hairs on the back of the bee.
deep blue sky
4th PLACE (pcc)
Deep Blue Sky is actually a night shot of the Prince of Wales Bridge which spans the River Severn between England and Wales. This particular picture is one set of pictures I took to show that you can produce stellar detail even with light pollution on the horizon.
buoy on the bank
4th PLACE (pcc)
Buoy On The Bank is actually a night shot of Pulteney Bridge City Of Bath. Taken at night under clear moonlight evening this image captures the tranquillity of the River Avon just before it hits the turbulent weir.
